It may not be long before we see not only national relation of hedge funds, but international regulation as well. Just recently U.S. Treasury Secretary nominee Timothy Geithner stated that in the future any regulations may need to consider coordination with other partners the G-20, the Financial Stability Forum, and the IMF, among others. While such coordinated regulation would presumably be in the best interest of investors, it will likely increase costs for hedge fund start up managers.
